Politicians

Having just read that if a debt agreement is not forthcoming those on Social Security may not get their checks, I am incensed!!! How can any politician Democrat or Republican be so callous. Many many many people depend on those checks. If the government defaults on this promise we should default on taxes. Fair is fair of course. Though if we do that we go to jail....The politicians just go raise more money for themselves...Think about it

Snow Storms

It has been a while since my last rant.. The weather has changed that. We got a snow storm here in my home town a total of 5-6 inches. Now that is a decent snow not considered a huge amount by any stretch. My rant is this: Why do people panic over approaching storms and raid the stores like ravening locusts??? It is not as though they are going to have to revert to cannabalism. Every time I run an errand for my Mom before a snow storm, the shelves are stripped bare as though it was the apocalypse. Come on people it is just a little snow and will be gone in a couple of days. Chill!!!!

Price of gas

Gas!! Every time I go by a gas station the price has gone up!!! I keep hearing about an oil glut and the low demand yet the price continues to go up!!! Can anyone tell me what the hell is going on?? I can see no reason for the price of gas to go up other than greed!! The economy is in shambles. There are a lot of laid off workers and the job market is nearly non existent!!! Do we really need this added stress??? Things are going to have to change or as the saying goes, the center can not hold!!!

First Vent

This will be my first vent! That is why I called this blog the daily spleen, so I can vent my spleen about things that bug me! I grew up in a world where you went to work and you did not need to worry that they would lay you off tomorrow or the next day. Our parents got jobs and could usually count on being at them for years. Now if you have a job, you check everyday when you get to work to see if you have been pink slipped! We live in a country that is not the strong manufacturing nation it once was. Our economy has come to be dominated by banking and the service industries. While these industries are indeed important, you can't maintain a strong economy with good employment prospects this way. Wouldn't most Americans pay a little extra for products produced in the U.S.? I think they would, especially if the manufacturers would make a commitment to keeping those jobs in America? What do you think??
